Heavy Duty Mechanic - Apprentice

If you are driven and motivated to become part of a dynamic team, our Grand Prairie branch has an opening for a Technician In-Shop . Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for providing in-shop service repair and maintenance to all Cummins product lines.

Additional responsibilities are described below:

  • Providing excellent customer service by delivering quality repairs and maintenance to all Cummins customers

  • Electronic engine troubleshooting, rebuilding/repairing and performing maintenance on all customer equipment

  • Accurately placing labor on the correct repair plan

  • Provide documentation ofwork performed with accurate, timely and consistent data on work orders

  • Adherence to all safety rules and procedures

  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada without sponsorship

  • Must be a registered and an active apprentice in either Heavy Duty or Commercial Truck and Transport Trade

  • Must have a basic knowledge of computer skills and be able to complete repair order and failure report paperwork

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Motivated team player with strong organization and communication skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract

  • Familiarity with Cummins QuickServe/Insite software considered an asset

  • Cummins high horsepower experience would be an asset.

  • CVIP license considered an asset.

Our Pre-Employment Background Screening process consists of a Criminal Background Check as well as Education and Work Experience Verification. Specific Tickets / Licenses are checked as required, and Drivers Abstracts are required for any position where driving is part of the job.

This position will work 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. , and may include weekend coverage. Please note that any future shift changes that may occur are made in accordance with the terms and conditions of employment.
